Wild-harvested Québec chaga, dried and broken into chunks. This black, fissured polypore grows on the white and yellow birches of our forests; inside, it is a golden brown. Its reputation precedes it, and it deserves a place in your routine — simply because its decoction is delicious!
The drink is dark brown, with a soft, woody, slightly vanilla-like taste and no bitterness. Enjoy it hot or cold, plain, with a little honey or milk, or blended into coffee.
Preparation: boil 3 to 5 grams of chunks per litre of water for 5 minutes, cover and steep 10 to 20 minutes. The chunks can be re-boiled 3 to 4 times — let them dry between uses. Pairs well with reishi, ginger or chai spices.
